Nestled in the heart of Sacramento at 1211 Broadway, Ming Dynasty stands as a vibrant homage to authentic Chinese and seafood cuisine. This welcoming restaurant embraces the rich traditions of dim sum and family-style dishes, offering patrons a delicious journey through familiar favorites and hidden gems.
At Ming Dynasty, the dim sum menu is a treasure trove of textures and flavors. Signature bites like the delicate shrimp dumpling (筍尖蝦餃皇) and the perfectly steamed shumai (蟹黃蝦燒賣) burst with succulent fillings that showcase exceptional craftsmanship. The steamed piggy bun (卡通豬仔包) offers a playful yet tender experience, while the golden, crispy deep fried sesame ball (香麻煎堆仔) delights with its nutty aroma and subtly sweet inside. For those with a sweeter tooth, the creamy mango pudding (香芒凍布甸) and melt-in-the-mouth egg tart (酥皮蛋挞) provide the perfect satisfying finish.
Seafood lovers will appreciate standout dishes such as the Sautéed Pea Sprouts with Crab Meat and the light yet flavorful Deep-Fried Shrimp Ball (百花炸蝦球). Meanwhile, the roasted duck (明爐燒鴨) is rich with smoky, savory notes, demonstrating Ming Dynasty’s commitment to traditional roasting techniques.
Noodle aficionados are equally catered to with comforting plates like Beef Chow Fun with Black Bean Sauce (豉椒牛肉炒河) and the tantalizingly rich Sauteed Noodle with Dried Scallop and Enoki Mushroom (瑤柱金菇炆生麵). Each noodle dish is crafted to feature textures that are simultaneously tender and springy, coated in sauces that burst with layers of umami.

Customer reviews highlight a mix of admiration and honest appraisal. Brian Chan appreciated the kindness of the staff even though he found the dim sum selection somewhat limited compared to other spots. Carly Coleman praised the flavorful beef chow mein and hearty portions, though felt some dishes like honey walnut shrimp could be skipped. In contrast, Michael Pay lauded Ming Dynasty as one of Sacramento’s more authentic Chinese eateries, noting the generous takeout portions and grandma-approved freshness onsite. Eric Caraveo also commended the restaurant’s ability to accommodate lighter meal requests and enjoyed the fresh, delicate steamed fish with vegetables—perfect for those seeking health-conscious but satisfying options.
What truly resonates at Ming Dynasty is their dedication to balancing tradition with approachable flavors, making it a solid choice for both dim sum enthusiasts and families seeking authentic Chinese fare with a friendly, homey vibe. The generous portions ensure good value, and while some dishes may not reach perfection for every palate, the overall experience speaks to a kitchen that respects its culinary roots while welcoming new guests warmly.
Came here for dim sum because we were in the area. Selection was really limited and the carts weren’t coming around as often as I would have expected. Food itself was fine but it wouldn’t be my top choice for dim sum in Sacramento. A bit disappointed with the overall options to choose from. Staff was nice
The Chinese food was great. The beef chow mein and the my-shu tasted flavorful and very filling. The portion sizes were worth the price. The honey walnut shrimp however wasn’t great, I would not recommended that. It’s has a creamy like mayonnaise sauce on it that wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t get it again. The dish also didn’t come as much as I anticipated. This isn’t a must try Chinese restaurant, but I would order here again.
Better quality than most other Chines restaurants I've tried in the grid for takeout. Good green beans. Good boneless la zi ji with lots of peppers. Noodles had great texture but the velveted beef had a fishy taste to the oil. Next time I'll get plain vegetarian noodles. Huge portions and good value.
One of the better authentic Chinese restaurants here in Sac, reasonably priced, wide selection of dimsum, family style dishes, and soups. We ordered a bunch of stuff to go and they gave you pretty big boxes and filled them all up. We also went back another day to dine in and the food was fresh, service was fast, and the food was grandma approved. Honey walnut shrimp wasn't that good, too much mayo and wasn't very sweet. Dim sum was super tasty tho! The green veggies were a bit too tough. Everything else was tasty.
I was delighted to find lighter options on the menu. Th staff happily made adjustments so my dish was prepared without excess oil. I ordered the steamed fish with vegetables, which was fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. The restaurant was bright, clean, and refreshing, making it the perfect spot for a guilt-free but tasty meal.
